Life support team puts pressure on high-flying pilots
SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Staff Sgt. Craig Hawley prepares Maj. Cory Bartholomew for a U-2 reconnaissance aircraft mission. U-2 pilots wear space suits because they typically fly higher than 60,000 feet -- twice as high as a commercial airliner. Sergeant Hawley is the launch and recovery supervisor for the 99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron's physiological support division. Major Bartholomew is a U-2 pilot with the 99th ERS.
