Planes over water

AIR FORCE PHOTOS

Senior Airman Abby Hernandez reconnects components of a KC-135 Stratotanker engine that was just installed. Airmen at a forward-deployed location recently had to replace an engine on two KC-135s in the span of about a week. Air Force officials have announced Northrop Grumman as the winner of the KC-X competition for the development and procurement of up to 179 KC-45 tanker aircraft to eventually replace the Eisenhower-era KC-135s.
