Major racer
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA -- Maj. Tom Knolmayer leads his team of Iditarod sled dogs on a training run Feb. 27 in preparation for 'The Last Great Race'. Major Knolmaye is chief of surgery at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, and his dog team competed in the Iditarod which began March 4. Major Knolmayer is the only active-duty military member competing in the race out of 79 contestants this year. You can follow Major Knolmayer's (#24) progress at www.iditarod.com.
