KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Staff Sgt. Phil Calkins (left) and Airman 1st Class Jeff Layton, 33rd Rescue Squadron aerial gunners, prepare radios on a HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter Dec. 9. Three HH-60s from the 33rd RQS, two MC-130 Combat Shadows from the 353rd Special Operations Group and a 909th Air Refueling Squadron KC-135 Stratotanker launched from here to provide humanitarian assistance to nearly 170,000 people from the Philippines displaced by Typhoon Nanmadol.
