Team deploys to recover damaged aircraft
SOUTHWEST ASIA -- (From right) Tech. Sgt. Rich Bobber surveys the damage on a C-130 Hercules engine as Tech. Sgt. Clark Elwarner (kneeling) and Tech. Sgt. Paul Okon pry off the engine panels to get a look inside. The Airmen are part of a maintenance recovery team from the 386th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron at a forward-deployed location. They traveled to northern Iraq to repair the battle-damaged C-130 after it was hit by enemy ground fire. Within 48 hours, the team had replaced the engine and certified the aircraft as airworthy so it could be flown home. (U.S. Air Force photo by Capt. Sonny Kim)
