At the playground
PIKES PEAK, Colo. -- Capt. Leon Travis leads research assistants Army Pfc. Jesse Udy and West Point cadets Laura Greczyn and Amy Rutkowske on a five-mile hike near Devil's Playground. Captain Travis is a volunteer in an Army/Air Force altitude research study. The captain and 17 other Airmen are living on the summit of Pikes Peak this summer to gauge how the body reacts to living and exercising in a high-alpine environment. (U.S. Air Force photo by 1st Lt.
