MedFlag 2004 kicks off
DITHOLO, South Africa -- Capt. Karyn Ayers, a family practitioner, listens to a child's breathing patterns to determine what kind of medical treatment she needs. Captain Ayers is part of a team of medics from the 48th Medical Group at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, who saw more than 600 patients here on their first day of MedFlag 2004. The annual two-week joint-combined medical training and civil assistance exercise provides rare medical training for U.S. Air Force medics and their South African defense force counterparts.
