Smithhart and Rex
PRINCE SULTAN AIR BASE, Saudi Arabia -- Staff Sgt. John Smithhart, a K-9 handler with the 363rd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, and his military working dog, Rex, inspect a vehicle for explosives. Smithhart and Rex have been deployed from the 52nd SFS at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, for more than five months. The 363rd Air Expeditionary Wing's primary mission was to enforce the southern no-fly zone over Iraq. It was also the largest deployed combat wing in theater for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
