Multinational consortium celebrates milestone of first C-17

In his multinational role as chairman of the 12-nation Strategic Airlift Capability consortium, Brig. Gen. Richard Johnston signed the forward fuselage of the program's first C-17 Globemaster III after having driven a ceremonial rivet into the airframe during the "major join" ceremony at the Boeing final assembly facility. The C-17 will be delivered to the Heavy Airlift Wing, the SAC program's multinational operational unit, at Papa Air Base, Hungary, in July. (U.S. Air Force photo/Atiba Copeland)
