Airmen airdrop messages to Iraqi citizens
Several hundred thousand leaflets to be airdropped over an Iraqi city are strapped down with the static lines running from the leaflet boxes up to the anchor cable of a C-130 Hercules during an airdrop mission recently. The anchor cable is also used by paratroopers when jumping from the aircraft in-flight and the static line is designed to rip open their parachute once they've cleared the aircraft and is pulled back in for reuse.
