Air Force works aggressively to reduce bird strikes

Officials credit monitoring grass height around runways with helping to deter birds that prevent a hazard to aircraft operations. Here, mowers at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., ensure grass around the runway is more than 7 inches high, because birds are less likely to land somewhere if they can't see each other.
