Surgeons return injured troops to action

Senior Airman Brittney Hardrick places a camera inside a patient so Dr. (Maj.) Craig Kolasch, general surgeon, can perform a laparoscopic hernia repair Dec. 23 at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. Airman Hardrick is a surgical technician. Both Airmen are assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Medical Group. Many of the surgeries performed here are hernia repairs. Airman Hardrick is a native of Dayton Ohio, and Major Kolasch, is a native of Great Falls, Va. Both are deployed from Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Darnell T. Cannady)
