Predators on patrol in Afghanistan

Airman 1st Class Justin Cole monitors the engine and propeller of an MQ-1 Predator as it starts up Oct. 26 at a base in southern Afghanistan. With the pilot and sensor operator inside the ground control station, they rely heavily on communication via radio with crew chiefs to have a successful launch. Airman Cole is a 62nd Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron crew chief deployed from Creech Air Force Base, Nev. He hails from Orange Park, Fla. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Samuel Morse)
