Col. Mick Guthals and Capt. Ben Kessler prepare to fly a B-1B Lancer Feb. 25 from Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., to Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. The four-person crew flew a B-1B tail warning function test to analyze if a radar that faces the rear of B-1B detects incoming missiles or aircraft. If detected, the system can deploy defensive countermeasures. Colonel Guthals is the 53d Wing vice commander, and Captain Kessler is a 36th Electronic Warfare Squadron B-1B employment officer.
