Operation Toy Drop

With his ticket in hand, Army Spc. Jerrod Grant from the 82nd Airborne Division from Fort Bragg, N.C., listens for his lottery number to be called for a chance to jump and earn foreign jump wings after donating a toy Dec. 5 during Operation Toy Drop at Pope Air Force Base, N.C. Operation Toy Drop is an annual Airborne jump at Fort Bragg in its 11th year hosted by the Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), and supported by Fort Bragg's XVIII Airborne Corps and the Air Force Reserve Command's 440th Airlift Wing at Pope AFB that gives Soldiers and Airmen the opportunity to help local families in need over the holidays while boosting morale and incorporating valuable training. More than 3,000 Soldiers donated a toy for a lottery ticket and the chance to jump under a foreign jumpmaster, earning them their foreign jump wings. This year, German and Irish jumpmasters will be issuing the commands from C-130 Hercules aircraft during the operation. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Lock)
