Volunteers form critical link in the 'care chain'

Staff Sgt. Angelica Pinkney explains how to assemble a litter and gurney during Patient Administration and Disposition volunteer training at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, Oct. 22. More than 30 first-time volunteers attended the class, which teaches them to safely transfer patients from UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters into the Air Force Theater Hospital emergency room. Sergeant Pinkney, the night PAD boss for the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Support Squadron and a native of Freeport, Texas, is deployed from Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
