Heavy lifters
The sun shines on a C-5 Galaxy (foreground) and a C-17 Globemaster III Sept. 26 at Joint Base Balad, Iraq. The aerial port at Joint Base Balad is the busiest in the Department of Defense Airmen here move more cargo per year than Dover Air Force Base, Del.; Charleston AFB, S.C.; and Travis AFB, Calif., combined. The C-5 is assigned to the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover AFB. The C-17 is deployed from the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston AFB. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Erik Gudmundson)
