Airman provides direct air support for Army battlespace

Senior Airman Andrew Young takes a break after coordinating air surveillance with an F-16 Fighting Falcon in June at Albu Ghrar, Iraq. Officials from the 2nd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, captured three suspected terrorists while searching for a high-value individual in the village that day. Airman Young, a joint terminal attack controller embedded with the 2-320th, coordinates close-air-support missions daily to protect Soldiers and Airmen working in and around Joint Base Balad, Iraq. He is a native of State College, Pa., and is deployed to the 1st Expeditionary Air Support Operations Squadron from Fort Hood, Texas. (U.S. Air Force photo)
