KC-135 flight deck cool-down
A fabricated cooling sock is attached behind the crew entry ladder of a KC-135 Stratotanker to allow cooling air onto the flight deck when the tanker is parked on a ramp in a very hot climate. The cooling sock demonstrated an Air Mobility Battlelab KC-135 Hot Weather Cooling Sock initiative. The use of the cooling sock has been recommended for fielding to Air Mobility Command officials by the battlelab staff, which is located at the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center on Fort Dix, N.J.
