Humvee Modification

Tech. Sgt. Paul Gardner displays the original mounting hardware, left, and the new parts he used to modify an air-conditioning fan and condenser in a Humvee July 21 at a base in Southwest Asia. Sergeant Gardner is credited with the idea of modifying the unit because the Humvees were being brought in continuously for air-conditioning maintenance. He created a specially made L-shaped bracket for the assembly and replaced smaller mounting nut and bolt hardware with larger sizes. Sergeant Gardner is assigned to the 386th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, and is deployed from the Mississippi Air National Guard. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Raheem Moore)
