First Lt Rob Hansen beat a bout of Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer during training, graduate and get awarded the F-22 Raptor. He spent 16 months fighting to get back in the program after his diagnosis. Upon graduating as a distinguished graduate for scoring in the top 10 percent of the class, he was awarded the Daedalian Award for top formation pilot; the Flying Excellence award for the top overall flying score, and the commander’s trophy for being the top graduate. Hansen is an 80th Flying Training Wing graduate pilot with the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. (U.S Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Mike Meares)
