A C-130 Hercules taxis on the flightline July 14, 2014, at Westover Air Reserve Base, Mass. The C-130 crew picked up 12 Airmen assigned to the 439th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. AE units provide tactical aeromedical evacuation for injured U.S. troops and regional unified commands. Flight nurses and medical technicians have the capability to fly patients on more than five different aircraft, which include the C-17 Globemaster III, KC-135 Stratotanker, C-21, C-130, and the KC-10 Extender.
