Allies in a new era
Chisato Morita commanded the Imperial Japanese Navy Midway Flying Corps aboard the aircraft carrier Akagi during the Battle of Midway, June 3-7, 1942. One of his opponents in the battle was Ray Sorton, a U.S. Navy Sailor who manned an anti-aircraft gun during the battle. Today, both sailors have descendants who are friends and work together in the 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan. (Courtesy photo)
