AMC commander: Airmen, partnerships, technology key to mobility’s future

Retired Marine Sergeant Carlos Evans thanks the aeromedical evacuation team during the 48th Air Mobility Command and Airlift/Tanker Association Symposium in Nashville, Tennessee, Oct. 29, 2016. In 2010, the Airmen transported Evans from Afghanistan to the U.S. on a C-17 to receive medical care after he suffered injuries from an improvised explosive device while on patrol. Evans was unconscious from the time he stepped on the IED in Afghanistan until he woke up at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. During his keynote address, Everhart provided Evans his first opportunity to put faces and names to the aeromedical evacuation team who helped him.
