AFLCMC NDI goes digital on aircraft inspections: saves money, improves operations for Air Force

An X-ray generator is aimed up at an F-16 Fighting Falcon wing spar during a pre-production test, at the 138th Fighter Wing at Tulsa Air National Guard Base, Okla., Oct. 26, 2017, of the computed radiography system now being implemented throughout the Air Force by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. The new system replaces the film used in X-ray imaging with an imaging plate to produce a digital X-ray image that can be shared more easily and eliminates the use of hazardous chemicals.
