Col. David Mounkes, 123rd Airlift Wing commmander, presented the Bronze Star Medal to Master Sgt. Benjamen K. Pelster, a 123rd Special Tactics Squadron combat controller, during a ceremony at the Kentucky Air National Guard Base in Louisville, Ky., Nov. 17, 2018. Pelster was instrumental in the execution of nine missions across five countries involving seven landing zones, nine forward area refueling point surveys and one drop zone certification in 2014. His efforts led to the establishment and expansion of critical air infrastructure in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and across the U.S. Air Forces Central Command’s area of responsibility.
