Airmen from the 100th Maintenance Group prepare a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft assigned to the 100th Air Refueling Wing to be refueled during the first-ever “hot-pit refuel” of a KC-135 in all of U.S. Air Forces in Europe command at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom, Jan. 8, 2021. “Hot-pit refueling,” is another name for an engine-running refuel while the aircraft is grounded and is a capability built to increase efficiency on the ground and increase the amount of gas in the air.
