LITENING ADVANCE TARGETING

Maj. Brett Plummer, 20th Bomb Squadron radar navigator, inspects the LITENING Advanced Targeting pod on the wing of a B-52H Stratofortress on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., May 17. ATPs are used on a wide variety of aircraft including the B-52H, A-10 and F-16. The ATP is a self-contained, multi-sensor weapon aiming system that enables the aircrew to detect, acquire, auto-track and identify targets for highly accurate delivery of both conventional and precision-guided weapons.
