AIR FORCE PHOTOS

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Jared Martrano, 22nd Maintenance Squadron aircraft structural maintenance specialist, demonstrates a wheel refurbishment stand developed by McConnell Air Force Base maintainers at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., August 24, 2026. The stand uses interchangeable adapters designed for different aircraft wheel sizes and allows technicians to rotate a wheel 360 degrees and completely invert it for improved access and coverage during painting. Once painted, the wheel can be moved to a drying rack without contacting the wet surface, allowing technicians to immediately begin work on another wheel and increasing the number of wheels that can be processed.
