A C-17 Globemaster III arrives at Hilo International Airport, Hawaii, as the first flight for Operation TREK808, Aug. 24, 2026. The C-17, from the 15th Wing based out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii, carried three Southern California Edison (SCE) trucks loaded at March Air Reserve Base, Calif., that will assist Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) power restoration efforts on Hawaii Island. There are thousands of homes without electricity due to the damage caused by Hurricane Lala from Aug. 14-16, 2026. The operation was a culmination of support and coordination between Hawaiʻi Governor Josh Green, Hawaii National Guard, Department of War, Pacific Command, Pacific Command Air Forces, SCE and HECO.
