  • Wilson sets sights on readiness, modernization at Air Force Association breakfast

    Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson addressed the Air Force Association’s Air Force Breakfast Series June 5, 2017, at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C. During her remarks Wilson spoke about the proposed Air Force budget for the fiscal year that starts October 1.
  • Strategic bombers, Airmen deploy to United Kingdom

    B-52H Stratofortresses from Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, and about 800 Airmen from Air Force Global Strike Command deployed to Royal Air Force Fairford to support a number of exercises with joint partners, and U.K. and NATO allies.
  • Hill F-16s train in NATO exercise

  • Airmen earn German proficiency badge; forge relationships

    Twenty-four Airmen from the 19th Air Support Operations Squadron will be sporting new accoutrements on their uniforms after competing for the coveted German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, April 4-7, 2017, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The badge is a military decoration worn by the Bundeswehr, the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany and it is an uncommon award for U.S. service members to earn. The GAFP Badge is prestigious in that it is one of few foreign awards that is authorized for wear on U.S. military uniforms.

  • Bulgaria, US commence joint air policing

    The U.S. and Bulgarian air forces are conducting a joint NATO air policing mission in Bulgaria Sept. 9-16, which enables on-demand response capabilities that serve to mitigate and deter violations and infringements on Bulgarian sovereign airspace. Working alongside the Bulgarian Air Force are four F-15C Eagles from the California and Massachusetts Air National Guards, along with approximately 75 Airmen from the 194th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron.

  • Lakenheath strengthens royal ties during Joint Warrior

    Airmen from Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, recently completed three weeks of intense threat-reaction training missions during Joint Warrior 2016 in Scotland. Joint Warrior is a NATO exercise, which prepares rescue coalition force units for potential real-world scenarios that could be encountered in deployed environments.
  • Gorenc discusses European Reassurance Initiative, air police mission

    The commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe - Air Forces Africa said April 5 that the increase in European Reassurance Initiative funds next year will allow his command to improve its presence and facilities on the eastern side of NATO and to deter Russia. Gen. Frank Gorenc also told the Defense Writers’ Group that his command is working on transferring the air policing mission over the Baltic States into an air defense mission.
