Female body armor secures Hanscom AFB defenders
The recently-developed armor is a lighter weight than previous editions and features a curved chest plate and shorter torso size. An adjustable corset tightens to fit the wearer, distinguishing it from a one-size-fits-all piece of equipment.
AFLCMC Focus Week returns July 26-30
Dozens of courses are available, ranging from career and functional area-specific training, coaching, seminars, and personal development classes. Focus Week also provides an opportunity to earn continuous learning points.
Air Force partners with Google to improve IT security
The effort covers three areas: Network-as-a-Service, End User Services and Compute and Store, and consists of technical assessments to determine if alternative solutions can meet unique Air Force requirements.
Overnight radar replacements for NEXRAD
The NEXT RADAR, or NEXTRAD replacement, completed at Cannon AFB in February in one night, is part of an ongoing effort there and 24 other Air Force installations worldwide. The Air Force’s 25-site replacement program is part of a three-agency U.S. government effort to standardize the 180 radars that build national weather and flight data for the National Weather Service, the Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. military.
Industry gets schooled on MDC2
Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, projected its quiet power during the Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) Industry Day, Feb. 20, at the Minuteman Educational Center, according to speaker Eileen Vidrine, the Air Force's chief data officer.
SecAF speaks on acquisition, partnerships at Hanscom
Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James discussed her top priorities with Airmen and state officials while emphasizing the importance of the acquisition base and its partnerships during a visit to Hanscom Air Force Base Aug. 20-21.
New interrogation system installed on AWACS, more in pipeline
The E-3 Sentry AWACS Next Generation Identification Friend or Foe (NGIFF) program office from Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, recently completed the first installation of the new AN/UPX-40 system, which also brings new enhancements onto an operational AWACS at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma.
