  • Chief exercises resilience through mountain climbing

The four pillars of comprehensive airmen fitness are mental, physical, social and spiritual. How Airmen choose to strengthen them is of their own desire, but one sergeant thinks a way to reinforce all of these concepts is found at the top of each American states’ highest point.
  • Guard exercise offers Tyndall Airmen unique training opportunities

Airmen from Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, participated in the Air National Guard’s largest fighter integration, air-to-air training exercise at Savannah Air National Guard Base, Georgia, from July 26-Aug. 5.
  • Raptors complete successful European deployment

Twelve F-22 Raptors from the 95th Fighter Squadron and about 220 Airmen from Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, completed on May 8 a month-long deployment to Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England.
  • Tyndall’s LRS best in Air Force

The Air Force’s newest logistics readiness squadron is now known as “the best of the best” in the Air Force. The 325th Logistics Readiness Squadron has won the Air Force’s coveted 2015 Major General Warren R. Carter Daedalian Logistics Effectiveness Award less than two years after its official activation.

  • AF emergency managers emphasize planning during National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month and the Air Force Civil Engineer Center is leading the charge for servicewide participation. With a theme of "Don't wait. Communicate. Make your emergency plan today," this year's focus is on emergency planning, to include development of evacuation plans and family communication plans in the event of separation.
  • Fueling future training

Tyndall Air Force Base is home to the world's largest F-22 Raptor fleet, and the only base that trains their pilots; but without the aircraft's maintainers, this impressive force could never take off from the ramp.
  • Controlling the airspace for three generations

Children often admire parents and grandparents for doing great things, which can compel them to follow in their families’ footsteps and strive for greatness. For one Airman here, those footsteps from the past were followed almost exactly, leading to three generations of air traffic controllers. Senior Master Sgt. Michael Merritt, a 325th Operation Support Squadron radar approach control chief controller, is a third generation ATC, and the second generation to also serve in that career field while stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base.
  • Son flies in father's footsteps

Some sons walk in their father's footsteps, while others fly in them. This was recently the case for Capt. Taylor Wight, an F-15E Strike Eagle pilot, flew a Weapons Systems Evaluation Program mission with his father, Col. Al Wimmer,an F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot.

  • From cop to chaplain, one role helps with the other

While every job plays an important role in the Air Force, two are known well by every Airman: security forces and chaplains. Airmen recognize security forces members as the guardians of the gates for military installations. On the other hand, many Airmen know chaplains to be confidential sources that are sought out in times of need or leaned on for spiritual guidance. Though the jobs seem very different at first glance, one Airman said, his duty in one role has helped him fulfill his duty in the other.
