  • DOD educates military service members, civilian employees on Social Security Payroll Tax Deferral

    In order to provide relief during the COVID-19 pandemic, a Presidential Memorandum was issued on August 8, 2020, followed by Internal Revenue Service guidance issued on August 28, 2020, to temporarily defer the withholding of Social Security taxes for certain individuals beginning September 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.
  • Some early filers may not receive tax refund until after Feb. 15

    The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, signed into law December 2015, requires the IRS to hold tax refunds which include Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until Feb. 15, 2017.

    With the holidays now over, service members and their families might start looking toward another annual event, albeit one that generally garners far less excitement -- filing taxes.
  • IRS Form 1095 available on myPay

    All active-duty, Guard, Reserve, retiree and civilian Airmen will need proof of health care coverage when filing their federal tax returns for 2015. A hard copy form is scheduled to be mailed to each employee and the form will also be available electronically through myPay under the taxes section.
  • Free tax preparation, advice available to military families

    To ease the burden of tax-filing season, the Defense Department, through Military OneSource, is teaming up again this year with H&R Block to offer no-cost tax preparation to the military community with a promise of guaranteed accuracy.
  • Military OneSource offers free tax services

    If it hasn't arrived yet, your 2013 W-2 wage and tax statement likely is on its way, and with it the countdown toward the April 15 tax filing deadline.
