    While enjoying a drive through the rolling Tennessee countryside with his wife, the shrill ring of his cell phone pierced through the tranquility of the moment. Maj. William D. Logan's daughter, Blair, managed to utter, "Zac has done something really bad."

    Misawa, Kadena Airmen strengthen bilateral ties

    Aircraft and personnel from Kadena Air Base, Misawa AB and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force participated in Aviation Training Relocation Dec. 1-18 here.

    Misawa pilots save Iraqi civilians, earn 2014 Mackay Trophy

    Stranded on Mount Sinjar, Iraq, without food, water, medical care, facing starvation and dehydration, and under constant enemy gunfire, more than 40,000 Iraqi Yazidis were saved by a multinational coalition force led by Misawa Air Base F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots during an airstrike Aug. 9, 2014.

    Spirituality holds Airman up

    "It puts things into perspective," said Master Sgt. Wendell Barnes, the 35th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander support staff superintendent. "I love what I do in the military, but it is temporary and my faith is forever."

    Generals’ aerial exchange demonstrates alliance, friendship

    As a testament to the strong friendship and alliance between the U.S. and Japan, two top military leaders from both nations came together for a bilateral exchange flight here Oct. 14.

    Mental strength leads Airman through tough times

    Surviving an unstable upbringing in Pittsburgh, she never expected to be grabbing onto the Eiffel Tower in Paris at age 21. What started as watching scenes of this historic landmark in movies led her to envision a life beyond her childhood confinement. This was it, the height of her bucket list. Senior Airman Augustine Thompson-Brown had a limited perspective about the world until she joined the Air Force at age 18 and moved on from the challenges she grew up with.

    He reached his 5th hour of running alone in the still of a dark, cold night lit only by streetlights surrounding the track -- 25 miles down, 75 more to go.

    Short-notice: A new way to exercise

    When 1st Lt. Matt Lavigne's phone rang late Dec. 10, he knew it was time to scramble into action. As a fighter pilot, preparedness is engraved into his DNA, but this was the first time he'd experienced something like this. In only a few hours, he'd be flying side by side with other F-16 Fighting Falcons bound for the Republic of Korea.
