  • Air Force approves RPA initiatives

    The Air Force recently approved two initiatives for the remotely piloted aircraft career field. First, eight RPA reconnaissance squadrons will be redesignated as attack squadrons. Second, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III authorized RPA aircrews to log combat time when flying an aircraft within designated hostile airspace, regardless of the aircrew's physical location.
  • Rice nominated to become next Air National Guard director

    Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced April 5 that President Barack Obama has nominated Maj. Gen. L. Scott Rice for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as director of the Air National Guard.

    The Air Force’s newest logistics readiness squadron is now known as “the best of the best” in the Air Force. The 325th Logistics Readiness Squadron has won the Air Force’s coveted 2015 Major General Warren R. Carter Daedalian Logistics Effectiveness Award less than two years after its official activation.

    The commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, in concert with Headquarters Air Force Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration Directorate, has directed a review of the 13N career field.
  • Miller nominated as next chief of Air Force Reserve

    President Barack Obama nominated Maj. Gen. Maryanne Miller for a third star and assignment as chief of Air Force Reserve and commander of the Air Force Reserve Command, replacing Lt. Gen. James F. Jackson.
  • Eielson selected to receive operational F-35A aircraft

    Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, was selected as the new home for the Air Force’s first operational overseas F-35A Lightning IIs. Air Force officials chose Eielson AFB after a lengthy analysis of the location’s operational considerations, installation attributes, environmental factors and cost.
  • AF selects 6 enlisted Airmen for medical prep school

    The Enlisted Medical Degree Preparatory Program, which begins in July, offers enlisted members a chance to attend medical prep school full time for two years while maintaining active-duty status. The program includes coursework in a traditional classroom setting with structured pre-health advising and formal medical college admission test preparation.
  • 1,467 selected for promotion to senior master sergeant

    The Air Force has selected 1,467 master sergeants for promotion to senior master sergeant.
  • Nominations sought for 2016 DOD disability award

    The Air Force is accepting nominations for the 2016 Outstanding Department of Defense Employee or Service Member with a Disability Award.
  • 54 selected for Undergraduate Flying Training program

    Fifty-three company grade officers and one major have been selected for the Air Force's Undergraduate Flying Training program. The UFT annual selection board convened in January to consider active-duty candidates for the program. Those selected will attend pilot, remotely piloted aircraft, combat systems officer or air battle manager training.

    Air Force officials are accepting nominations for the 2016 USO Service Member of the Year award.
  • AF implements new DOD-wide changes to maternity leave

    Beginning Feb. 2, active-duty female Airmen will receive up to 12 continuous, non-transferable weeks of fully paid maternity leave in accordance with Defense Department-wide changes to the policy outlined in Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s Force of the Future announcement Jan. 28.
