    Cadets at the Air Force Academy today are immersed in hands-on STEM programs while also exposed to a broad education in the humanities and non-technical disciplines. The Cyber Squadron Innovation is a pathfinder program among Air Force communication squadrons, enabling communications squadrons to provide secure communication assets and services with a focus on security assurance.
  • Taking the fight to the cyberspace frontier

    In a highly secure, underground facility in Colorado Springs, crews of operators in a room full of computers keep an ever vigilant eye, protecting worldwide U.S. assets around the clock. This facility is not underneath tons of granite in the midst of Cheyenne Mountain, like a more well-known part of the 21st Space Wing. It is located below street level in a building on Peterson Air Force Base, protecting a different part of space – cyberspace.

  • Blue Flag exercise marks 40th Anniversary

    Airmen from 505th Combat Training Squadron are the creators and controllers of a live, virtual and constructive world that takes air operation centers and Air Force forces staff through a quest to sharpen their skills at planning, executing and controlling war and relief operation scenarios. The exercise, Blue Flag, takes place at Hurlburt Field, Florida, July 21-28 and is currently in its 40th iteration.
  • Air University wargamers battle to keep America's lights on

    Cyber experts from across the military, government agencies and private industry joined forces at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, April 27, to mitigate future cyberattacks within the U.S. The Air Force Cyber College's two-day wargame brought the CIA, FBI, Goldman Sachs and others into participation. Security experts analyzed how they handled cyberthreats independently, and how they could team to improve combat cyber incidents of national significance.
  • Air University students win big at national cyber policy competition

    Two teams of Air Command and Staff College students took top honors at the Atlantic Council Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge in Washington, D.C., on March 11-12.
  • DOD-wide Windows 10 rapid deployment to boost cybersecurity

    The Defense Department will deploy Windows 10 departmentwide by January to strengthen cybersecurity and streamline the information technology operating environment, according to a Feb. 26 memo by Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Work.
  • Cybersecurity program shapes mission assurance for AF core missions

    Task Force Cyber Secure has made progress in addressing mission assurance and cybersecurity challenges for Air Force core missions, according to Air Force leaders.
