  • Newest 'Freedom Flyer' takes final flight for his B-52 crew

    The events on Dec. 20, 1972, were clearly on the mind of former Air Force pilot Paul Granger as he exited a T-38C Talon following a special hourlong flight March 3 that began and ended on the east flightline at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas.
  • Flint recruiters assist community in crisis

    Recruiters are known as the face of the Air Force in communities all across the U.S., and in Flint, Michigan, local recruiters Staff Sgts. Parker Smith and David Whitney are also known as the faces of compassion and humanitarian service. The two recruiters have been volunteering every Wednesday and don't plan on stopping until the crisis is solved. They've helped assemble water testing kits, load bottled water into vehicles and unload pallets from trailers.
  • Training squadron ‘doubles down’ in effort to grow RPA pilot ranks

    The 558th Flying Training Squadron ramped up efforts to double the remotely piloted aircraft pilot ranks with the start of its first 24-person class Jan. 11 at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph.

  • Hispanic Heritage Month: A wealth of traditions

    Senior Airman Andrea Londoño, from the command support staff for the 4th Manpower Requirement Squadron attached to Air Force Manpower Requirements Determination Squadron at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. Her father is from Colombia, while her mother is from Mexico. To develop a better understanding of her heritage, Londoño has visited both Colombia and Mexico several times.
  • SecAF, CSAF, CMSAF present new "little blue book"

    Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James A. Cody delivered the initial handout of the pamphlet, “America’s Air Force: A Profession of Arms,” Aug. 27 to the Air Force’s newest Airmen at Airmen’s Week.
  • Maintainers extend life of T-38 Talon

    The Air Force's trusted trainer, the T-38 Talon, has a new lease on life thanks to a robust structural-modification program. Technicians in the Ogden Air Logistics Complex's 575th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, recently completed the first aircraft in the program and are currently working on 11 more.

    Air Force officials have selected the service's top enlisted members, naming the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2015.

    Eligible first-term enlisted Airmen interested in retraining opportunities can review the fiscal year 2016 online retraining advisory on myPers. Air Force officials approved 1,599 fiscal 2016 first-term Airman retraining quotas in 45 Air Force specialty codes.
