  • The ‘Future Fight’ is here: Red Flag-Nellis 22-3

    More than 20 units and approximately 2,300 participants arrived at Nellis Air Force Base to take part in the final Red Flag of 2022. Greeting them were the pilots of the newly re-activated 65th Aggressor Squadron, and the 57th Operations Group’s dedicated multi-domain aggressor force.

  • Nellis AFB to become 5th generation Center of Excellence

    The Department of the Air Force announced plans today to make space for a larger fighter presence at Nellis Air Force Base by realigning the base’s close air support and rescue missions to Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, starting in fiscal year 2022.

    The 563rd Rescue Group, a geographically-separated unit out of Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, was realigned from the 23rd Wing to Davis-Monthan AFB’s 355th Fighter Wing Oct. 1, 2018.

    The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center has been coordinating inland search and rescue missions in the United States since its creation. Today, the AFRCC works with local and federal search and rescue assets and is credited with saving more than 17,000 lives.

    At approximately 6:45 p.m. GMT March 15, 2018, an Air Force HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter crashed in western Iraq. The crash does not appear to be a result of enemy activity. This incident is under investigation.

    Arriving in the rain, an HH-60G Pave Hawk landed Jan. 5 at Edwards Air Force Base to begin testing the ballistic dispersion of a GAU-21 .50-caliber machine gun.   • AF helicopter crashes in England

    An Air Force HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter crashed at about 6 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time Jan. 7 near Salthouse on the Norfolk coast in England.

  • Three of four crew members accounted for after crash

    Three of the four crew members involved in the Aug. 5, HH-60G Pave Hawk crash in the central training area have been accounted for and are in stable condition.     A Kadena-based HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter crashed in the Central Training Area near Camp Hansen, Okinawa, at about 4 p.m. Aug. 5. U.S. fire and rescue crews are responding to the scene of the mishap.
