Transport Isolation System
Air Force surgeon general talks about COVID-19, innovation, leadership
Lt. Gen. Dorothy Hogg, U.S. Air Force surgeon general, accompanied by Chief Master Sgt. Dawn Kolczynski, Air Force Surgeon General chief of medical operations, toured and learned about the Transport Isolation System aboard a C-17 Globemaster III, June 26.
NPC completes first operational patient movement
The NPC is the latest isolated containment chamber developed to transport individuals with infectious diseases, like the novel coronavirus. This operation brings the total number of patients retrieved by the mobility Air Force using an isolation containment chamber to more than 100 across 18 missions since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Negatively pressurized conexes ready to save lives
Air Mobility Command and Air Force Materiel Command leaders joined forces early April to invite creative materiel and non-materiel solutions to address a joint urgent operational need to move large numbers of COVID-19 patients should the need for that capability arise.
Travis AFB bolsters aeromedical evacuation capabilities amid COVID-19
Air Mobility Command, headquartered at Scott AFB, Illinois, selected Travis AFB, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, and Ramstein Air Base, Germany, as staging grounds for its aeromedical missions involving Transportation Isolation System use.
40 days, nights: AMC commander’s battle staff directs round-the-clock support in COVID-19 fight
Forty days after Air Mobility Command commander Gen. Maryanne Miller activated the commander’s battle staff, a small but dedicated group of experts continue to work tirelessly around-the-clock at Scott Air Force Base, overseeing AMC’s contribution to the Defense Department’s operations in the COVID-19 pandemic fight and arming Airmen with clear guidance on how to execute operations safely and effectively.
AMC Airmen conduct historic first aeromedical evacuation mission using Transport Isolation System
The aeromedical evacuation mission, REACH 725, marked the first operational use of the TIS since its development during the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, and the first movement of COVID-19 positive patients aboard U.S. Air Force aircraft.
School of Aerospace Medicine trains teams to treat, transport COVID-19 patients
The TIS is an infectious disease containment unit designed to minimize risk to aircrew and medical attendants, while allowing in-flight medical care for patients afflicted by contagions like COVID-19. The TIS represents an important tool in Air Mobility Command’s COVID-19 response to safely transport patients afflicted by the virus.
Airmen train to transport infectious patients
The TIS is a device used to transport Ebola patients, either by C-17 Globemaster III or C-130 Hercules aircraft, while preventing the spread of disease to medical personnel and aircrews en route to a U.S. hospital equipped to treat them.
Around the Air Force: Sept. 6
On this look around the Air Force, the flu mist is not a viable vaccination for Airmen this year, and aeromedical Airmen rely on the Transport Isolation System to prevent the spread of illnesses.
Scott Airmen train on Transport Isolation System
Members of the 375th and 932nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadrons here began familiarization training on a Transport Isolation System (TIS) Jan. 26.
