  • 36th CRG brings relief, inspiration after devastation

    On Oct. 25, Daverrick Camacho, a firefighter from Saipan, woke-up to a nightmare turned reality. Everything he worked toward was wiped off the face of the earth. The place he called home and held family gatherings was nothing more than darkly twisted debris, scattered across the front lawn.
  • Tyndall AFB rebuilds after Hurricane Michael

    When Hurricane Michael approached Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, last month, Col. Brian Laidlaw, 325th Fighter Wing commander released an evacuation order in an effort to keep the base’s most important assets, its people, safe. With exception of the ride-out team, comprised of nearly 100 Tyndall members, everyone left. Among the mix of those remaining were first responders, base leadership and command post personnel.

The squadron recently took on a new capability: Unclassified Processing Assessment and Dissemination, or UPAD, for domestic operations, or DOMOPS, said Tech. Sgt.     Air force leaders from 19 nations in the Western Hemisphere met in Panama City June 18-22, 2018, for the 58th Conference of American Air Chiefs (CONJEFAMER, per its Spanish acronym). At the annual meeting, these allied nations build partnerships among air forces, discuss their collective mission and vision, and plan future exercises, continuing a 50-plus year history of cooperation and goodwill across the Americas.
  • Dentist charters private plane for Puerto Rico

    Ortiz Gonzales reached out to a friend from dental school, who was also from Puerto Rico. Together, they worked with a church in Florida and chartered a private plane. It wasn’t cheap, but the price did not deter her. She personally funded the mission and got to work gathering supplies to fill the entire plane – from all the fixings for a massive Thanksgiving dinner, to water, to generators and solar lamps.

  • Partnership enables JB Charleston sealift relief efforts to Puerto Rico

    The first humanitarian relief supplies sealifted from Joint Base Charleston to Ponce, Puerto Rico departed Oct. 31, 2017. In the hours following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, JB Charleston C-17 Globemaster IIIs responded delivering more than 1,700 tons of aid, supplies and medical teams to affected areas. Although the C-17’s have the ability to get to austere locations quickly, the amount of cargo it can carry is limited.

    Seven Special Tactics Airmen from the Kentucky Air National Guard departed the Kentucky ANG base, Louisville, Sept. 20, 2017, for the Caribbean where they will open airfields for humanitarian aid deliveries and resident evacuations in the wake of Hurricane Maria, the third major hurricane to hit the region in the past month.

  • 601st AOC's AMD provides critical link during hurricane relief

    In the throes of a hurricane, emerging requirements for military air assets throughout the affected area can create a chaotic web of demand signals with varying levels of priority. When those demands require the use of U.S. Transportation Command or Air National Guard assets, it is the job of the air mobility division within the 601st Air Operations Center and director of mobility forces Air Forces Northern Command to synchronize and facilitate the requests.
