  • CONUS Evacuation Order for all Individuals Assigned to Tyndall AFB Update

    This update provides information that relates to the Evacuation Order issued 8 October 2018, and as amended, for Tyndall AFB personnel. Nothing in this update is intended to terminate evacuation entitlements. Tyndall AFB and parts of the local area are still without basic services and utilities. Additionally, many hazards remain, which may affect personal safety. Notwithstanding the foregoing conditions, all active duty military and civilian evacuees, along with their dependents are authorized to return from safe haven location to a continental U.S. residence pursuant to the following guidance. All other Evacuation Order provisions and requirements remain in effect.

    It was seemingly a normal day in Panama City Beach, Florida. But stormy winds and rising tides hinted at the devastation that was to come. Thousands of residents there and in surrounding areas were ordered to evacuate. Among the evacuees who did were some 3,500 Tyndall Air Force Base employees. Some of them are now operating from Civil Air Patrol National Headquarters at Maxwell AFB, Alabama.

During months of planning between Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida and Moody AFB, Georgia., Exercise Stealth Guardian was conceived and executed by Airmen from both wings to explore Air Force capabilities in modern rescue scenarios to integrate rescue and 5th generation assets in a deployed or contingency environment.

    The 325th Civil Engineer Squadron Natural Resources monitors and protects the sea turtles that come to Tyndall AFB's beaches to nest. They also compile data for Florida's monitoring system on these nests including; where the nests are located, what species of turtles laid the nest and how many successfully hatched out of the nest.
