  • AF selects 5,166 for promotion to master sergeant

    The Air Force has selected 5,166 technical sergeants for promotion to master sergeant of the 20,169 eligible. The overall selection rate was 25.61 percent, with an average selectee overall score of 523.22. Selectees’ average time-in-grade was 3.86 years, time-in-service was 14.36 years and the average decorations score was 11.42. Additionally, the U.S. Air Force Supervisory Examination average score was 71.46 and the average board score was 374.48.

Joseph McFall, the 52nd Fighter Wing commander here, promoted his sister, who he refers to as Tess, to the rank of colonel via video teleconferencing technology, May 15, 2017. As soon as her new rank took effect, Goodman made sure to jokingly let her older brother know it would be the last salute she would have to give him for a while.

    Deployed Airmen at the 407th Air Expeditionary Group were given the opportunity to attend the U.S. Marine Corps’ Corporal’s Course to gain vital skills to be successful as enlisted leaders. Attending alongside their Marine brothers-in-arms, Airmen embarked on the two-week training, which is designed to build new competencies and expand upon prior leadership experience.

    Lt. Gen. Stayce D. Harris received her new rank during a promotion ceremony Aug. 26 at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. Former Women Airforce Service Pilot Pauline Cutler-White and retired Col. Charles McGee, one of the original Tuskegee Airmen, helped pin on the new rank. Harris is the Air Force's first black female lieutenant general, and also the first reservist to fill the position of the assistant vice chief of staff and director of the air staff.
