  • Digital Campaign virtual industry event slated for Sept. 21

    The event will be conducted via Microsoft Teams Live Event from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET and will be hosted by Dr. Will Roper, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics, and Gen. Arnold W. Bunch Jr., commander of Air Force Materiel Command.
  • World-unique tire testing capability saves millions for warfighters

    Predicting aircraft tire wear is a complex, time-intensive phenomenon, highly dependent on multiple variables. Historically, testers focused on the structural integrity of a tire prior to fielding and use. However, the ability to quickly and accurately predict tire wear remained a challenge across the logistics community – until now.
  • Air Force Marathon extends current registration prices

    Prices for the marathon and half marathon will increase by $10 on June 8, while the cost of the 5K and 10K races will increase by $5. The price for the Fly! Fight! Win! Challenge Series, in which runners compete in the 5K, 10K and either the half marathon or marathon will increase by $20, and the Tailwind Trot 1K Kids’ Run will increase by $3.

  • Wright-Patterson AFB physicians coordinate new protocol for COVID-19 patients

    Air Force doctors Maj. Evan Fisher, chief of Nephrology, and Maj. Matthew Koroscil, a Pulmonary and Critical Care specialist at the Wright-Patterson Medical Center, are leading the way in coordination with the Dayton medical community on a new drug protocol for COVID-19 patients.
  • AFRL, associates improve processes for fabricating aircraft engine inlet ducts

    Part of the Air Force 2030 Science and Technology strategy includes the deployment of low cost unmanned aerial systems in mass to assist in future near-peer engagements. To realize this vision, new manufacturing strategies need to be identified which can support the rapid manufacturing of high quality aerospace components at costs that are lower than what are currently available using legacy manufacturing processes.
  • Skillbridge helps service members transition to civilian workforce

    The Skillbridge program is an opportunity for service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, on-the-job training or internships during the last 180 days of service.
  • Grey Wolf begins testing

    The Air Force’s newest helicopter, the MH-139A Grey Wolf, completed its first combined test flight, Feb. 11.
  • Mobile app supports new hire process

    The “Newcomers” feature on the Air Force Materiel Command instance of the Air Force Connect mobile application provides new employees with step-by-step pre-employment and onboarding process information, checklists, installation maps, pay and benefits data, making the first days of work easier for the newest members of the AFMC team.
  • Air Force partners with Google to improve IT security

    The effort covers three areas: Network-as-a-Service, End User Services and Compute and Store, and consists of technical assessments to determine if alternative solutions can meet unique Air Force requirements.
  • AFMC, ACC expand weapons system collaboration

    Gen. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr., Air Force Materiel Command commander and Gen. Mike Holmes, Air Combat Command commander, signed a memorandum of agreement establishing the Lead Wing Collaboration Program during the Technology and Acquisition Sustainment Review Conference Jan. 29, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
  • AFMC seeks innovative ideas through IdeaScale Campaign

    Airmen and civilians from across the enterprise are invited to submit innovative ideas and solutions to improve the AFMC mission through the Air Force Ideation Platform, or IdeaScale, now through September 2020.
  • X-60A program conducts integrated vehicle propulsion system verification test

    X-60A is a single-stage liquid rocket primarily designed for hypersonic flight research and is launched from a modified business jet carrier aircraft.
  • New weapons system completes first live mission

    The ground-based weapons system allows squadron members at Tinker AFB to provide command and control to both live and simulated aircraft from around the country. Only 18 of these weapons systems exist in Air Force inventory and Tinker AFB is now one of only four active-duty bases to have this equipment.
  • Tinker AFB lengthens life of B-1 Lancer

    In order to keep the B-1 Lancer fleet serving the Air Force for the next 20 years, it will need dedicated structural repair and maintenance.
  • AFMC to host virtual career fair

    A virtual career fair, hosted by the Air Force Materiel Command, will focus on filling more than 100 vacancies across the command in career fields to include contracting, financial management, force support, information technology, intelligence, logistics, medical, program management, public affairs, safety and security.
  • Women’s Leadership Symposium inspires growth, diversity

    The two-day event drew more than 250 attendees from across the command. The symposium featured keynote speakers, issue-focused panels and collaborative networking discussions designed to empower women to help foster workplace environments that embrace diversity and promote leadership growth throughout the organization.
  • AFMC We Need initiative draws large feedback, widespread support

    More than 4,000 surveys and nearly 7,000 interviews are complete at this time, resulting in more than 30,000 comments and data points for review.
