Air Force & Space Force announce sweeping changes to maintain superiority amid Great Power Competition

The United States faces a time of consequence marked by significant shifts in the strategic environment. To remain ready, the U.S. Air Force must change.

In early 2024, the Department of the Air Force unveiled sweeping plans for reshaping, refocusing, and reoptimizing the Air Force and Space Force to ensure continued supremacy in their respective domains while better posturing the services to deter and, if necessary, prevail in an era of Great Power Competition. Through a series of 24 DAF-wide key decisions, four core areas which demand the Department’s attention will be addressed: Develop People, Generate Readiness, Project Power and Develop Capabilities.

Today, the Air Force once again finds itself at a critical juncture—an era of Great Power Competition marked by a new security environment, a rapidly evolving character of war, and a formidable competitor. This new era requires understanding its challenges and the attributes needed to succeed.

Embracing change is not a choice; it is a necessity. The Air Force must “reoptimize” into an enterprise prepared for high-end conflicts and long-term strategic competition.

The last thing you want to find out on Monday morning, is that a low level IT guy just stole all of your classified mission data on a thumb drive, no bigger than your finger. Gigashield technology has the form factor of a USB hub. It secures all COTS devices that are connected. iPads, phones, thumb drives, mice or keyboards. All of these devices and be programmed and reprogrammed, and therefore they pose a significant threat to Air Force programs.

The insider threat is a huge vulnerability, and insiders, witting or unwitting leverage the USB port to perpetuate attacks. The Gigashield technology can stop those attacks. Gigashield is a game changing technology. It stops insiders. It encrypts data, and provides multi-level access and multi compartmented information. It stops attacks and enables secure use of any COTS USB device. It’s very user friendly.

The Air Force SBIR Commercialization Readiness Program was instrumental in introducing Gigavation to identify customers and in helping them understand the needs of the warfighter. This enabled them to develop the Gigashield technology for the use of Air Force.
