'Que Bien' Air Force Week

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. (AFNEWS) --  The Air Force showcased its assets, capabilities and Hispanic Airmen during Air Force Week to 15 countries around the world March 21-22. 

Univision reporter Tony Dandrades of "Primer Impacto," a nationally televised, 60-minute Spanish-language news program, told the Air Force story during his time at here as an honorary commander for a day.

"This was a remarkable experience, over my expectation," Mr. Dandrades said. "It was great to be here and showcase the Air Force and the brave men and women who are fighting against the war on terror."

Mr. Dandrades interviewed many Hispanic Airmen with compelling stories. Airmen like 2nd Lt. Jesus Acuna-Perez from the 56th Logistics Squadron, who received his U.S. citizenship through the Air Force. 

"The Air Force paid for me to obtain my four-year degree and even my masters," said Lieutenant Acuna-Perez.

As an honorary commander for a day, Mr. Dandrades was given a first-class tour of Luke AFB. He had the opportunity to see how Airmen trained here to prepare for the war on terrorism. From the Airmen controlling the tower to those at the firing range, he saw how the Air Force is in the fight.

Mr. Dandrade's tour included a ride in a simulator, which is designed to operate as real F-16 Fighting Falcon. 

"My brother serves in the armed forces and has just come back from Iraq," said Mr. Dandrades. "I know firsthand how hard it is for the families and the sacrifices they endure, but we have to protect our country. I wish the Airmen the best."
