Enlisted Airmen at Luke Air Force base were given the opportunity to hear from and have breakfast with the Air Force's top enlisted man during a visit March 21.

Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Rodney J. McKinley is at Luke supporting Air Force Week, a seven-day event designed to thank the community for its support and increase public awareness of the Air Force's mission and capabilities and the professionalism of its Airmen.

"We want to tell the local community how much we appreciate them supporting our Air Force," said Chief McKinley. "And while I am here, I always want to take the opportunity to meet and talk with our airmen and see what's on their minds and thank them for serving our country and for the great job they are doing for our Air Force."

The chief spent more than an hour talking with and mentoring Airmen from around the base. He also took time to discuss issues that concerned them.

"It was nice to see that the highest enlisted person representing our military is so personable," said Staff Sgt. Elizabeth Spradley, 56th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal flight. "To actually hear his goals in a one-on-one situation, and for him to expand on his thoughts and the policies that go along with them is great.

More than 300 Luke Airmen are deployed around the globe in 11 countries, dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of America.  Throughout the breakfast, Chief McKinley's pride in Luke Airmen was apparent.

"Every Airman at Luke and every job that they have is critical to the success of the Air Force and I am very pleased with what the Airmen here are doing," said Chief McKinley. "We can all be proud of them."

Many of the Airmen said breakfast with the chief was a valuable experience and would help them as they furthered their careers in the Air Force.

"It is great to hear what we have in store for our future as an Air Force, and who better to hear it from than the chief master sergeant of the Air Force," said Sergeant Spradley.
