MONTE REAL AIR BASE, Portugal (AFNS) --

Approximately 30 Air Force delegates from eight nations participated in the European Partnership Flight event Sept. 8-15, 2019, at Monte Real Air Base.

The event, co-hosted by U.S. Air Forces Europe and Air Forces Africa and the Portuguese air force, was a way for U.S., European and African partner nations to improve professional military knowledge and skills. Members traveled from Bulgaria, Croatia, Morocco, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Portugal and the U.S. to participate in the collaborative workshops focusing on F-16 Fighting Falcon flight planning and operations, logistics support, supply and aircraft maintenance.

This is the third partnership flight event that brings together U.S., European and African partners since the program began in 2012 and is the first primarily European Partnership event. Since the program’s inception, USAFE-AFAFRICA has hosted 16 African Partnership Flight events.

This multilateral military-to-military engagement and security assistance event is intended to strengthen U.S. strategic partnerships with key countries in Europe and Africa and enhance regional cooperation and interoperability.
