  • 4th CMS hydraulics Airmen design, use apparatus to test stabilator actuators

    The F-15E Strike Eagle depends on many parts to maintain operational status. One mission critical part is the stabilator actuator. Without this part, the F-15E cannot fly. The hydraulic actuator, which moves the stabilator of an F-15E, defects collectively for pitch control and differentially to add roll control power to the jet ailerons.

    The organization responsible for the opening of the Innovation Lab, Wing1Werx, serves as the hub for innovation activity on base. Their overarching goal is improving the daily working lives of Airmen and to serve the mission by improving wing efficiency and lethality.
  • Air Force recruiting launches E.C.H.O. to test cognitive skills

    This new recruiting tool helps engage and build awareness of different opportunities in the Air Force that recruiters can send out to target audiences. The experience takes players through three different challenges, testing a variety of cognitive skills that Airmen use every day. At the end of the experience, the results will highlight which Air Force career paths would be viable based on their performance and how they can continue to improve their cognitive skills.

  • AFRL demonstrates first collaborative weapon technologies

    A team from the Air Force Test Center flew an F-16 Fighting Falcon and released two Collaborative Small Diameter Bombs, which are Small Diameter Bombs that have been modified with a collaborative autonomy payload. The CSDBs quickly established communication with each other and their seekers detected a GPS jammer.

    Heading the test was Air Combat Command’s Agile Battle Lab. The lab identifies, validates and inserts new concepts and technology to enable Agile Combat Employment and its contributions to all-domain warfare.
  • Newly-acquired AFRL test aircraft to aid personnel recovery research

    The CubCrafters XCub aircraft was ferried from Yakima, Washington, to Lewis A. Jackson Regional Airport near Dayton, on its journey to the Air Force Research Laboratory 711th Human Performance Wing’s contracted research flight test organization facility, Dec. 21.
