Hawgsmoke 2006
An A-10 Thunderbolt II drops a BDU-33, toward a marked target as part of the 2006 Hawgsmoke competition, Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the Barry-Goldwater Range, Gila Bend Air Force Auxiliary Field. The BDU-33 is a 25-pound training bomb used to simulate the M1a-82 500-pound bomb. As part of the competition, the A-10 Thunderbolt II performs this as a 30 degree dive bomb, 15-degree low angle high drag bomb, and level bombing. . This year's competition coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Warthog.
